No one shall forget the fact that India and America have long gone back on their support for the cause of Tibetan independence. Both India and America who once clearly and openly reiterated that China’s invasion of Tibet was annexing and the refugee Tibetans would be given the status of a nation wherever they are. India and America kept their promise for decades, even till a few years back. The large colonies of refugee Tibetans in dozens of countries throughout the world enjoying a nation status reminds us of the firmness of our governments after the Second World War.
This policy towards an independent Tibet suddenly changed in India and America when Chinese doors were opened to American industries and Chinese billionaires and their companies began to heavily invest in India. It would now appear as a pressure tactics stretching decades for forcing the Chinese doors open but it was not. This long policy of supporting the Tibetan refugees and their spiritual leader originated not from the political leaderships of India and America but from the will of the people of India and America. The people of India and America truly support and love independence and democracy and their governments could not have done otherwise. The people in these countries still support and love independence and democracy but their governments do not. That is the change. That is the reason for the change in Tibetan policies.

The Dalai Lama himself wishing to go back to Tibet and its Chinese occupation is irrelevant; anyone has the right to see a sunset in his native land before he dies. Selling principles for money and political mileage is what we see now in the administrations in India and America-something which the administrations in countries which have seen the brutal occupations in the World Wars would never have dared do.
