In matters related to corruption in Kerala, there are not only those who do corruption and those who oppose corruption but also fans of corruption. There is such a category of people too in our society. It is they, their secret and silent support, that make corruption possible- and those who sit in positions of power including in the government and the judiciary who do it and who allow others who do it to go unpunished in cases, proceedings and investigations coming before them. It is that there is a sect of people comprising all these that is said here. We will not be able to recognize who they are or catch them so easily. They are recognized by the extreme joy they express through various channels including social media when they know that a particular corruption case has been acquitted or dismissed. If the Vigilance Department of Kerala refused to file a case in any known corruption in Kerala or was not willing to conduct an investigation despite having received a complaint and evidence, or if the legal anti-corruption body the Loka Ayukta of Kerala refused to file or hear a case, or any judge from the Regional Vigilance Court to the High Court expressed doubts on the genuineness of a complaint and asked the petitioner to take his complaint and go out, we recognize these fans of corruption from their extreme joy. ‘Because we do not have any position of authority or seat in government, we are not able to make money through corruption, so let us be happy and let others who have it make money through corruption! That is their mindset.
It’s the similar joy some people feel when they hear that a rape accused has been acquitted because there was not enough evidence or because a magistrate felt compelled to do so. In one case, there is the satisfaction of being able to subdue and destroy a woman himself or by another through rape, and in the other case, the joy of being able to ravish and devour a public treasury and government through rape, loot, pillage and make it empty. In any case, these rejoicing people get the satisfaction of them themselves doing both. In Kerala, the one who made them most happy and satisfied in this way and got him self also happy the same way was Pinarayi Vijayan, a leader of a section of self-declared Marxists and the Chief Minister of Kerala.
When a high court judge wrote a dishonorable verdict in the Lavalin electricity corruption case in which when this leader was a state minister he went to Canada and signed corruption deals with the SNC-Lavalin company, and exonerated him even while punishing and imprisoning all his lower subordinates who were involved in this deal, these corruption fans rejoiced and affixed praising posters- messages of their joy and appreciation- throughout Kerala. Those who thought that the Communist Party of India (Marxist) would stand with those who were saddened by this exoneration and loss of anti-corruption cause were wrong- it was they who affixed those posters. When India's foremost fake fighter of corruption, the BJP’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, set a world record by adjourning for the fifty-sixth or so time the CBI’s appeal in the Supreme Court against this Kerala High Court judge’s decision, without it even reaching a judge for hearing, also innumerable posters appeared
When a judge through his observations and verdicts continuously gave message and warnings that he doesn’t like the Central Enforcement Directorate questioning this chief minister’s once-money thug and master manipulator, his once-finance minister Thomas Isaac a bit, and when the state investigating agencies without investigation acquitted and declared innocent his former health ministers Smt. P K Sreemathi and Smt. K K Shylaja who were heavily invloved in mega corruption deals worth crores of rupees in the Health Department in purchases of everything from cotton wool and medicine to corona vaccine and surgical gloves for patients and staff, they sang out of bursting hearts, beating drum-heads and tymbals.
These corruption fans and worshipers cheered throughout the entire state when two judges of the Kerala Loka Ayukta, the once-dedicated judicially constituted anti-corruption legal body in Kerala, wrote their verdict and asked why they should investigate the case that the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan himself had in various ways embezzled from the relief fund handed over to the Chief Minister by the people. Their cheer reached its peak when the opposition party Indian National Congress’ MLA Mr. Mathew Kuzhalnadan filed a case in the vigilance court in the capital alleging that despite complaints and evidence given to the vigilance department that since becoming chief minister for the first time in 2016 the chief minister and his daughter had been taking huge sums of money as bribes every month from companies which was an abuse of authority and corruption, they were not investigating, and also requesting that this should be directed to be investigated under the supervision of the court, and the court in a sense asked if he does that what is it to the complainant and ordered that they don't have the facilities nor the time for doing that. Do not forget that the people who passed these judgments also belong to the said category of people and are not immortals.
